The Group consist of ten fully owned companies and stakes in three others. The group traces its roots back in 1954 when Hakimi Glass Mart was established in Mombasa’s old town and a branch in Digo Road.Hakimi Glass Mart transferred to Nakuru in 1990 and was incorporated as Hakimi Glazier Ltd in 2001.

In 1996, Royal Trading Company Ltd was launched in Nairobi to deal in the importation of sundry items and general merchandise; the very first line of imports was the Royal Furniture brand, which has given the company its identity.

In 2007 The Royal Group of Companies built its headquarters in Nairobi along Mombasa road naming it as Royal ICT business plaza .

In the year 2001, Amatulla Glass & Hardware was launched in Nakuru and in 2007 the name later changed into Super Bargains Glass and Hardware Nakuru. Super Bargains Kenya Ltd was launched in Nairobi in the year 2002. In 2006 Royal Group of Companies came into existence to facilitate a better means of administration and management of the group of companies.
